One killed after I-55 crash in McLean County

MCLEAN – An Arizona man is dead after the box truck he was driving collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer in McLean County Tuesday morning. The Illinois State Police say that on I-55 southbound near the community of McLean a tractor-trailer driven by a Utah man stopped on the shoulder to inspect his headlights. He then allegedly pulled back onto the interstate without gaining any speed. Authorities say 25-year-old Cory D. Geist from Tucson was driving a box truck that then collided with the rear of the tractor-trailer. Geist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with Violating Minimum Speed Regulations, Failure to Yield to Merging Traffic, and Improper Lane Usage.
