Man pays $100 to buy an owl at a gas station

A man in Arizona was pulled over by authorities recently and when the officer walked up to the car they found a small western screech owl in the passenger seat.  They asked the man where he got it and he stated that he bought it from someone at the gas station for $100.  They had found it on the side of the road.  The man was charged with driving under the influence of paraphernalia.
The owl was injured and taken to a rehabilitation center where they hope to release it back into the wild once it recovers.
