CHICAGO – SNAP benefits will be issued to Illinois customers early. According to the Illinois Department of Human Services, March SNAP benefits will be loaded into customer accounts on the first of the month. Governor J.B Pritzker says communities shouldn’t have to suffer because of the federal shutdown, and will continue to do all they can at the state level so that Illinoisans don’t see a disruption in their benefits. To reduce the time between February and March SNAP issuance, IDHS created a new SNAP issuance schedule for March and April. Customers typically receive their SNAP benefits at different times during the month, so this will be on schedule for some SNAP customers and early for others. -B.C
