Ottawa Sheppard student going to IESA Golf State Tournament

OTTAWA – An Ottawa Sheppard student will be competing in the 9th annual Illinois Elementary School Association Golf State Tournament in Peoria this weekend. 7th grade student-athlete Payton Bruck, will tee off at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Kellogg Gold Course for an 18-hole round, representing Ottawa Sheppard as their only female golf player this year. Volunteer Coach Dan Dugan says Bruck’s demeanor on the golf course is something that’s hard to teach. “She’s a great kid with a great attitude.” Dugan says hes hoping to get the girls sport of golf growing in Ottawa schools.

The awards ceremony will take place after the last golfers have completed their round. Individual awards will be given during the ceremony, with the top 10 finishers in each division receiving medals.
