MORRIS – The Morris Police Department issued a warning of counterfeit money being passed around the area after a Chicago man was arrested for allegedly attempting to use counterfeit money at a local business. According to authorities, on Monday they were called to a business on Route 47 for a man who allegedly used a $100 counterfeit bill, and was reportedly still in the building. Police say when they arrived on the scene, 33-year-old Robert Reavley of Chicago, was exiting the business and allegedly fled on foot after seeing officers. After a brief foot chase, authorities say Reavley was apprehended, taken into custody and charged with 1 count of Forgery. The Morris Police Department says they’ve learned of more businesses reporting receiving counterfeit $100 bills, believing suspects have passed bills in Ottawa as well. The counterfeit bills being passed are reportedly manufactured and “washed” bills leading authorities to believe that two counterfeit rings are working the area.
