Man wanted for Illinois murder captured in Colorado

STERLING – A man who was wanted by Whiteside County authorities has been arrested in Colorado. The United States Marshal’s Service took 35-year-old Michael W.T. Bennett into custody at a hotel in a suburb of Denver. Bennett is accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old Joshua N. Hamrick of Sterling on May 1st of 2021. He is being held on 2 million dollars bond and is awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
