STREATOR – A handgun was brought into Streator High School on Wednesday but no injuries were reported and the gun was not fired. According to a letter from Superintendent Matt Seaton yesterday, an investigation began on Wednesday after receiving a tip that a handgun was being carried by a student. The Streator Police Department and the administration determined that the weapon was no longer in the building and the student alleged to have had the gun has been suspended pending the investigation. Streator Chief Pastirik in a statement this morning said the gun was recovered at a residence and that there was no indication the student intended to threaten or harm other students or staff at the school.
