LASALLE – Sick outs and non reporting for work by Transportation Security Airport screeners and Federal Aviation Administration safety inspectors is likely to increase if the government shutdown continues, according to flyersrights.org. So far local travel agency owner, Anna Lijewski (LEE- JEW- SKI-) of LaSalle Travel says, while they’re not feeling the impact as of yet, the government shutdown can cause a domino effect. Lijewski mentioned the closing of a terminal at Miami International Airport due to the shortage of TSA agents. She says people are just starting to travel, but if they start closing down local terminals it can potentially cause problems for the agency. According to the Transportation Security Administration, approximately 51,000 TSA officers are among government employees working unpaid.
