CHICAGO – Consumer demand for gasoline hit one of its lowest levels this summer. According to the Energy Information Administration, and AAA, drivers used 170,000 barrels per day, which is less than the rate during this time last year. Demand is expected to spike around the upcoming Labor Day holiday, leading to a brief price jump, as drivers take to the nation’s roads one last time before fall arrives. This past month LaSalle and Bureau County fell within the lowest gas price ranges, with LaSalle County at 2.68 and Bureau County with 2.69 per gallon.
