LASALLE – An idea for a mural featuring distinguished women from the North Central Illinois area has been approved in the city of LaSalle. Christie Pasieka pitched her concept to LaSalle’s City Council that would honor Mary Ellen Evers, Marion Dane Bauers, and Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg for their eminent roles in the community. The Empowered Women of Starved Rock mural would be painted by local artist Ray Paseka, with North Central Illinois Artworks, who has lead other murals including those in the Silo Pathways Countryside Public Art Tour. For now, the city has given its blessing on the idea, but a final approval with a location for the mural is to be decided.
