GRUNDY CO. – A traffic crash Saturday morning claimed the life of a woman Saturday. According to the Grundy County Coroner, John Callahan, the crash occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the intersection of Gorman and Stonewall. Preliminary investigation indicates the driver, 50 year-old Carol M. Jones was northbound on Gorman Road coming into the intersection of Stonewall when an eastbound vehicle allegedly struck Jones’ vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Callahan. Authorities say a passenger in the Jones vehicle was taken to a hospital in Peoria. No information of the eastbound vehicle was given. The crash remains under investigation by Coroner Callahan’s office and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
