A 33-year-old man in northeast Ohio named Yanni Sarris was helping his father cut down trees in the backyard of his parents’ home when he saw an SUV speeding across nearby yards and plunging into a pond.
A 46-year-old mother and her eight-year-old daughter were inside. Yanni heard the girl screaming, and sprang into action. He ran to the pond, jumped in, freed the girl, and got her to safety. Then he went back in for the mother, who’d been unconscious, and swam her to the shore.
The mother said that they were coming back from dinner at Olive Garden, when she started feeling sick, and FAINTED behind the wheel. She’s okay now, and is working with her doctors to figure out what caused her to faint while driving.
