A new study shows cigarette smoking among adults in the U.S. has dropped to a historic low of 9.9% in 2024, marking the first time it has fallen into single digits.

And even better, first-time smoking rates are now in the single digits too, moving the country closer to the national goal of 6.1% by 2030.
