Purple Heart Returned

A Purple Heart is one of the most prestigious awards a member of the military can receive . . . and an official in Illinois just helped the family of a World War Two veteran named James Bennett get it back.

James died in 1990 at the age of 76, and he’d apparently left the award in a safe deposit box, which was marked as abandoned.  Now, it has been reunited with his family.  Unfortunately, it sounds like this is a pretty common issue.
