Bureau Valley High School blood drive raises $301 for local food program

Bureau Valley High School’s National Honor Society partnered with ImpactLife on Jan. 29 to host a blood drive that collected 51 units of blood, 35 of which came from first-time donors, according to a press release. The drive earned Bureau Valley High School a $301 grant through ImpactLife’s LifeSavings Grant program, which provides a minimum of $250 to schools that host a blood drive, plus an additional dollar for every unit collected.NHS officers and advisers presented the grant to Bureau Valley Buddy Bags Vice President Karen Hansen. The Buddy Bags Program, a local nonprofit, supports 111 students in the Bureau Valley School District by providing food for weekends and extended school breaks. The blood drive reflects the National Honor Society’s commitment to service — helping meet critical blood supply needs while giving back to students in the local community. To support the Buddy Bags Program, contact bvbuddybags@gmail.com.
