La Salle County association offers $500 education scholarship

The La Salle County Home and Community Education Association will offer a $500 scholarship to provide students with financial assistance.Applicants must be a graduating La Salle County high school senior, a La Salle County resident with a GED, or a La Salle County resident who has graduated. The applicants also must be enrolled in a vocational school, junior college, or university for the fall 2026 semester.Applications are available at the La Salle County Extension Office, 3101 Illinois Route 23, Ottawa, or any La Salle County high school guidance office. The applications can be submitted via the mail to the furnished address. Applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 10. The scholarship recipient will be named on Friday, May 1.The La Salle County Association for Home and Community Education is an organization whose goals are to be more aware of school, home, and community health; help parents believe and see the need for the 4-H program; help residents better understand money management and economics; assist people in improving life quality through education; and help families and communities develop life’s cultural aspect.This scholarship is open to any La Salle County resident.

Princeton High School drama department to present ‘The Addams Family Musical’

The Princeton High School Drama Department will present “The Addams Family Musical: School Edition” as its spring musical. Performances will be on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.“The Addams Family Musical” is a comical production that embraces the wackiness in every family and features an original story centered on a family dilemma: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family — a man her parents have never met.When Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother, Gomez Addams faces an unprecedented challenge: keeping a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything changes for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.The PHS production features Bianka Nickelsen as Wednesday, Mia Sluis as Morticia, Andrew Stocking as Gomez, Mo Franklin as Pugsley, Lincoln Frost as Uncle Fester, Angela Frost as Grandma Addams and Jackson Drozda as Lurch.Tyler VandeVenter appears as Lucas Beineke, Elin Workman as Alice Beineke and James Schillaci as Mal Beineke.The ensemble of Addams Family ancestors features Anna Boughton, Eliana Carlson, Emma Carlson, Hanna Claiborne, Aishwarya Gheewala, Zach Harris, Tricia Kloepping, Grace Nesbitt, Aliyah Ringenberg, Lily Simpson, Alyssa Stewart, Kymber Thompson, Piper Wempe and Giavanna Weyer.

Princeton High School scholastic bowl earns conference and sectional honors

Princeton High School’s Scholastic Bowl received individual awards and had several members earn honors at the conference and sectional levels.Trevyn Munson was named TRAC All-Conference First Team and finished second in the conference standings. He also received IHSSBCA All-Sectional First Team honors.The scholastic bowl teams also placed two players on TRAC All-Conference teams. Hanna Claiborne earned TRAC All-Conference First Team recognition and a ninth-place finish. Isabella Simmering was awarded 17th place and was named to the TRAC All-Conference Second Team. Claiborne and Workman were also awarded IHSSBCA All-Sectional Honorable Mention honors.
