La Moille Lions Club hosts fish fry on March 6

The La Moille Lions Club will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the club, 308 Howard St.Meals are dine-in or carry-out and include fish, slaw, potato, dessert and beverage.Prices are $14 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Earlville Queen of Hearts pot nears $500K

The Lounge is getting another massive turnout for its Queen of Hearts game of chance drawing.After a drawing last November that saw a total pot of $1.7 million, the Earlville bar is seeing a growing total for its drawing at 8 p.m. this Saturday, Feb 28.The current total as of Wednesday, Feb. 25, is $471,062.Anybody is eligible to participate and buy-in until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 28, a half hour before the drawing.Sandra Kozlowski and Jeff Theurer of The Lounge said the winner will receive 60% of the pot, just like in the November drawing.The Lounge is located at 117 S. Princeton Elementary to hold preschool screening March 19-20

Princeton Elementary will host a preschool screening on March 19-20 at Douglas Elementary School.Children must be 3 or 4 years old before September this year to participate. Screenings will check motor, learning, speech and language, social-emotional and self-help skills.The free screening is required for families planning to enroll in the district’s Bright Beginnings Pre-Kindergarten Program, funded by the Illinois State Board of Education, but any family may schedule a developmental checkup. Children already enrolled do not need to be screened again.Proof of income, as well as an up-to-date physical and immunization records, must be submitted before the first day of school.Call 815-875-6075 to schedule. Appointments are required and last about 45 minutes.
