National baby formula theft ring busted in Utah

For a little over six months, baby formula has been in high demand, and there hasn’t been enough to go around.  Three women were arrested recently in connection to a “nationwide baby formula theft ring”.
It was uncovered that they stole baby formula from stores in multiple states.  One employee caught them filling a large plastic tote with over $2,000 worth of baby formula.  The theft ring is responsible for over $23,000 worth of stolen formula.
It’s unclear what they were doing with the formula . . . whether they were capitalizing on the shortage by selling it themselves, or if this was a bigger operation, in the U.S. or internationally.
Most formula has been locked up in cabinets or at the registers, so it is unclear how they have managed to steal so much of it.
