TikTok users gift $12,000 to 89-year-old pizza delivery man

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for September 24th:
Derlin Newey is a pizza delivery man in Roy, Utah. He’s garnered quite a following on social media for his genial nature.
The Valdez family got to know him from his deliveries to their house. Newey is so special, the Valdezes ask for him by name whenever they order.
They also record his deliveries whenever he comes to the door since he’s always so pleasant.
“It’s insane. Everybody loves him,” said Valdez.
TikTok users began asking why an 89-year-old was delivering pizzas instead of living the retired life. It turns out, Newey lives alone in his mobile home and started delivering pizzas because he can’t afford his bills on social security alone.
So the friendly users of TikTok organized a fun to gift him $12,000. Perhaps now, he won’t have to worry about delivering so many pizzas.
