Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for September 17th:
You love to see a story about a community coming together. This one, I feel, echoes ours in big ways.
Lane Unhjem was in the middle of harvesting when he went into cardiac arrest. He is presently in stable condition.
When local area farmers got word of what happened to Unhjem, dozens in Divide County, North Dakota put their own harvesting on hold to cut the remaining 1,000 acres for their neighbor and friend.
It took around 60 farmers, 11 combines, six grain carts, and 15 semis to get Unhjem’s Durum Wheat and Canola in the bin.
“Everybody knows the Unhjems, and they’re good people and good in the community, and just kind of the farming way of life too. You help your neighbor out when they need it and don’t expect anything in return,” said Jenna Binde KFYR.
Unhjem is likely in the middle of a long recovery, but he can rest assured his farm and his community is in terrific hands.
