SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Treasurer is asking residents and companies to take the time to claim funds that may rightfully belong to them. Unclaimed property that has been held in financial institutions or companies for several years is handed over to the Treasurer’s Office so that they can be given to their owner no matter how long it takes. You can visit the website and enter your name to see if you have unclaimed assets. Many businesses, schools, and even fire and police departments in the area are listed. They say 25% of residents in the state may have money coming to them.
