Ever since her single “More Hearts than Mine” hit country radio, I’ve had my eye on Ingrid Andress. With her debut album Lady Like, which was released this past Friday, she clearly has ambition to break down genre boundaries. Her songwriting style is very much akin to country music, but her compositions veer towards soft pop and piano ballads. I’m working my way through her debut, and it’s clear she is someone with modern sensibilities. Her songs show off her flaws while highlighting her sensitivity and perception of the world. She’s one of the most interesting young musicians working today, and I can’t wait to see which of the seven “new” songs on her album are chosen for her subsequent singles!
