Local musician brings single mother to tears with generous donation

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for March 25th:
Nathan Sheppard, a musician in North Carolina, took his talents to the internet where he wanted to do right by helping out someone in need.
In one day, Sheppard raised $235, and used the money to tip a local waitress. It just so happened the woman, Jessica Young, is a single mother of three who is waiting for a new kidney and pancreas.
“I cried,” Young said. “I waited tables and bartended for quite a long time and nothing like that has ever happened so I was very gracious.”
Sheppard didn’t even do it for the recognition or reaction. He left as soon as he gave the tip and paid the bill.
“I wrote a note on the back of the check and left it in the book and walked out. I didn’t want to see her face. I wanted her to enjoy that moment.”
Be kind to each other during these tough times. It goes a long way. Even simple acknowledgments and friendly gestures go miles.
