MENDOTA- A Mendota student won the regional spelling bee after mastering ‘tapioca’ and ‘enmasse’. Jenah Sims will be moving on to the state spelling bee in Peoria on March 27th. The Northbrook school 8th grader competed against students from LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam counties Saturday morning.
Principal Paula Daley said “Northbrook and all of District #289 are so very proud of Jenah Sims and her representation of Mendota and our wonderful school system! She is the epitome of a great student and just as important she is a wonderful person. We know how impressive this is, and we are beyond beaming with pride over her accomplishment! “
