Fiery I-80 Crash Claims Lives of Couple Returning From Funeral

MORRIS – A Tuesday afternoon crash on Interstate 80 in Grundy County claimed the lives of a couple from Michigan returning from a funeral.  In a release by the Grundy County Coroners Office, they say that 73-year-old Charles R Fuller was driving east near Morris around 4:30 p.m. when for unknown reasons the vehicle left the road and struck a tree before bursting into flames.   The passenger, his wife, identified as 74-year-old Shirley Ann Fuller, was the only other person in the vehicle.  Both were pronounced dead at the scene.   According to authorities, they were returning from Minnesota after attending the funeral for Shirley’s mother.   The incident remains under investigation and autopsies are scheduled.
