Livingston County COVID-19 vaccination update

PONTIAC – The Livingston County Health Department (LCHD) continues to make progress administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to those eligible Livingston County residents. As of January 13, 2021 the LCHD has received 700 doses of the Moderna vaccine and have administered 560 doses to those that qualify, with the remaining doses already scheduled for administration. “While it has been difficult given the unknowns of when and how much vaccine we’ll receive in deliveries from the State, we are confident in our ability to distribute the vaccine quickly and efficiently to our residents and county workers,” said Jackie Dever, LCHD Administrator. “We understand the importance of this vaccine in our communities and we ask for the public’s
patience as we work to distribute the vaccine.” The COVID-19 vaccine will be administered in Livingston County in accordance with the phases as recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The initial phase of vaccine distribution, known as Phase 1A, includes healthcare providers (including but not limited to: clinicians, dentists, EMS, etc.), caregivers, clergy, and long-term care facilities. The LCHD has diligently been reaching out to those eligible within Phase 1A to ensure the vaccine has been made available to them.
Any healthcare worker, caregiver, or clergy working in Livingston County not affiliated with a hospital system, is encouraged to call the LCHD to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination appointment at 815-844-7174 ext. 216. As Livingston County enters Phase 1B (Age 65+ & Essential Workers), those age 65 and older will receive first priority in vaccination distribution. A questionnaire is available on the LCHD website (www.lchd.us) for those age 65 and older to sign-up for updates regarding clinics times/dates and appointment availability. Only those age 65+ may register at this time. The LCHD is also prioritizing school personnel within Phase 1B and are working closely with Livingston County schools to coordinate vaccine distribution to their staff. All other essential, workers are asked to check the LCHD website regularly for up-to-date information, as well as local media and Facebook (@LivCoHealthIL), as Livingston County progresses through Phase 1B.
Availability and timing of vaccine administration in Livingston County will depend on vaccine delivery from the State of Illinois, as well as uptake of the vaccine by those individuals who are eligible. It is requested that the public please refrain from contacting the LCHD with questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. If you have questions or concerns about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please contact your healthcare provider. The LCHD will continue to work diligently to meet the everyday needs of county residents while aggressively addressing the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
