OGLESBY – A total of 16 Illinois Valley Community College students in need will receive food bags this week thanks to a drive initiated by staff at the school. IVCC staff members Carey Burns and Kim Herout initiated the drive, plus helped the Support Staff Service Project Craft Fair raise over $1,500 to fund a portion of the project. The bags contained dried pasta, sauces, soups, chili, rice, noodle dishes, peanut butter, jelly, bread, quick oats, fruit cups, cookies, crackers, fresh fruit, cheese and pantry staples such as cooking oil and ketchup. Burns said a “large clothing and accessory donation” will also be made to Lily Pads Resale Boutique. Other IVCC staff assisting were Janice Corrigan, Donna Swiskoski, Gracelyn Quesse, Aseret Loveland, Sandy Beard and Susan Monroe. Participating departments included Project Success, Student Services, the bookstore, Hall High School’s Food Pantry and BEST.
