By: iamme ubeyou

DEPUE – The Village of DePue will he home to the largest solar farm in Bureau County, advancing the state’s goal of reaching a quarter percent of renewable energy by 2025.  Ameresco, Inc., a  renewable energy and efficiency company, announced that it will develop a 27 megawatt solar farm with over 70,000 panels, beginning in the summer of 2020. The initiative is estimated to produce 37,000 megawatt hours of green, emission-free energy in its first year of operation. DePue’s solar farm is projected to offset nearly 26,000 metric tons of CO2 annually, which is equivalent to taking over 5,000 passenger vehicles off the road for one year or powering over 4,000 homes for a year. As the solar facility’s owner and operator, Ameresco will remain in the community following project completion to continue providing maintenance and support services for the life of the facility.
