Scout Receives Rare Medal

daily-dose-of-uplift-2

A teen scout from Texas earned one of the Boy Scouts of America’s rarest honors after saving his scout leader from drowning.  The hero is a thirteen-year-old named Devon Champenoy. He freed his scout leader’s trapped foot while they were in dangerous whitewater rapids.

The rescued leader said that Devon’s quick instincts likely saved his life. Fewer than 300 scouts have received this medal since the Boy Scouts started in 1910.
