MENDOTA – The Mendota Police Department will still be accepting monetary donations for the victims of the August 22nd fire on Main Street in Mendota, but they are no longer taking in clothing or household items. The department said they are thankful for the outpouring of support, and any and all donations of items should be given to Nightengales Thrift Store. The City of Mendota and the Mendota Police Department Good Samaritan Fund along with The Main Street Fire Fund at First State Bank will be providing financial support to the over dozen families who lost everything in the devastating fire that destroyed a number of buildings in the 800 block of Main Street.
