LASALLE – The roof of LaSalle’s City Hall will be replaced with synthetic slate roofing come December. City officials approved an additional bid for just under $17,000 for various materials needed for the roof replacement project. In May, Finance Director John Duncan said the repairs are a critical requirement to prevent further water damage to the building’s interior. The city hall roof could be up to 70 years old. Officials agreed on going with synthetic slate roofing to maintain the overall look of the historic downtown civic building. The city plans on using half of a $1.2 million dollar grant awarded to them through The American Rescue Act. The total cost of the project is around $536,000.
