Pastor borrows ice cream truck, hands out free treats to neighborhood on his birthday


Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for June 16th:
Pastor Bill Losasso founded the Florida Dream Center in St. Petersburg, Florida where he works to help homeless individuals. Every weekend, his organization helps give away 25,000 pounds of food — an unfathomable number.
For his 73rd birthday, Pastor Losasso wanted to live a childhood dream. He rented an ice cream truck and drove around all day Saturday handing out hundreds of scoops and bars for free.
“Out here they don’t get ice cream very often,” Losasso told Fox 13. “We had people tell us it’s been a year and a half since they had any ice cream and little kids said that.”
Melvin Hillman, who drives the truck year-round, the watched in amazement at the pastor’s selflessness.
“It’s beautiful, it’s great, it’s a blessing,” Hillman said. “I thank God I’m here to be a part of it. We have more people like him in the world it will definitely be a better world.”
Arguably the best part about this? Pastor Losasso got to spend his birthday with dozens of people, making their day along with his!
