Students use “end-of-school-trip” money to help family fix farm lost in a fire

I’ve said it time and time again, and it stands to reason. Never underestimate the empathy and compassion that resides in young people. It’s an easy thing to overlook, but I’ve seen it myself. And it’s a reason I’ve prioritized making stories like this one part of my daily doses of uplift.
Local public school students in Switzerland decided to use the funds they had saved for an end-of-school field trip on repairing a family farm in Grüsch that was lost in October to a devastating fire. They went to local businesses and asked for donations on top of using their own personal savings for the family.
The generosity and compassion of the 27 students involved was noticed by Somedia, a regional media company based in Chur, Switzerland. Somedia decided to fund the students’ end-of-year trip anyway as a token of appreciation for their hospitality.
