Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for April 6th:
A boy scout has spent his time social distancing alleviating a common problem for healthcare workers. With healthcare workers forced to wear masks around the clock, there is the inevitable issue of ear-pain caused by the strings on the mask.
Until now.
Quinn, a boy scout from Canada, used his 3D printer to make a plastic band that adjusts to the back of your head and simultaneously takes the pressure of the masks of one’s ears. It’s a pretty ingenuous invention. In addition to printing his own, Quinn made the file public so anyone with access to a 3D printer can create one themselves.
“As someone who works in healthcare I can say that this is fantastic! When we wear them constantly all day everyday, they actually start to cut into the back of our ears,” wrote one user.
This is the kind of “coming together” we all love to see. Desperate times call for some unconventional solutions, even for the smallest problems, and Quinn has created something that will subtract one less burden from the already tired healthcare workers around the world.
