Cab driver prevents woman from coughing up $25,000 to a scammer

Your “Daily Dose of Uplift” for February 17th:
A 92-year-old woman has a cab driver to thank for saving her five figures that could’ve landed her in a world of financial ruin.
Raj Singh, owner of Roseville Cab, suspected something was off when his passenger stated she needed a ride to the bank to withdraw $25,000. The woman claimed she needed to settled unpaid debt to the IRS, and Singh thought it sounded eerily similar to so many scam phone-calls that have occurred for years.
Despite the woman’s convictions, Singh was quick-thinking enough to take her to the Roseville Police Station, where the woman explained her story to the officers, who confirmed it was a scam.
The Roseville Police Department even went out of their way to make a Facebook post about the incident: “We love this story because several times throughout, Raj could have just taken his customer to her stop and not worried about her wellbeing,” Roseville police said. Singh was even given a $50 gift card by the police for his good deed.
Always be weary of scams, folks… don’t be afraid to reach out to a friend or family member if you’re unsure. Tip of the cap to Singh!
