SPRINGFIELD – Weather problems have limited fieldwork across North Central Illinois, and delays in planting have set some farmers back. According to the USDA just 55% of the corn crop is planted, behind the average of 70% by this date most years. Soybeans are also trailing the four year average, with just 38% in the ground compared to 44% in years past.
