Vehicle Crashes into Bank

MALTA – A semi truck caused a vehicle to crash into a bank in Dekalb County on Tuesday. Illinois State Police and Dekalb Sheriffs were called before 9AM for a reported collision on Route 38 in Malta, involving a fully loaded semi truck. Police say 18-year-old David Rivera of Belvidere was driving a Mack semi truck traveling westbound when he failed to notice a vehicle stopped to turn left. Rivera began to brake but lost control and veered into the eastbound lane, striking a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Marco Antonio Clavellina (CLAV-EYE-INA) Sandoval of Rochelle. The collision sent Sandoval’s vehicle through the Resource Bank parking lot and into the building. An office room was reported to be damaged, however no one was inside at the time. The truck
A second  3-vehicle accident occurred while deputies were still on the scene with the Resource Bank crash. A vehicle stopped for cars turning on 2nd street in Malta when that car and another car was rear ended in a chain reaction. No injuries were reported however, the third vehicle involved in the chain of crashes was towed from the scene. driver was cited by Dekalb Sheriff’s for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, and improper lane usage.
