PERU – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that repairs to a damaged beam on the bridge that carries U.S. Route 6 over Illinois 251 and ramp repairs in Peru begin on Tuesday. They say the work will require closure of Illinois 251 in both directions. All four ramps at the interchange are scheduled for work as well, and IDOT says they expect the work to be completed by August 5th. US Route 6 will remain open. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
