MENDOTA – Mendota District 289 is planning on exploring a number of options for students this fall when classes are set to resume.   Due to the ongoing pandemic, however, it may not be a fully traditional start to the school year.   Superintendent Dr. Kristen School laid out this week the scenarios regarding what could happen on the first day students are back, August 20th.

“It is our hope that we will be able to resume in-person learning at that time following the recommended precautions that the State, the CDC and the WHO require.” Dr. School said in the email.  “We are also working on alternative plans to continue ELearning, if required to do so.”

One of the hybrid options combining ELearning and in person attendance would require students to appear just two days a week.   The Illinois State Board of Education has yet to finalize any specific recommendations yet, but District 289 is encouraging families to keep their students reading and using the educational software that has been made available for them to use.
