Trident Arrests Ottawa Man for Crack

OTTAWA – A 39 year-old Ottawa man is in jail for cocaine possession and unlawful delivery following a Trident operation in which an undercover vehicle was damaged. According to the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team, Thursday afternoon in the 500 block of Norris Drive agents assisted by the Ottawa Police Department arranged a purchase of one gram of crack cocaine.
When agents attempted to take the subject into custody, he allegedly attempted to flee in an SUV, striking an undercover vehicle. After a short pursuit that ended a few blocks away, Verico Tyrece Veal was arrested and taken to the LaSalle County Jail. Additional drugs were reportedly found in Veal’s vehicle.  No injuries occurred in the crash.  He was charged with Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, both Class II Felonies.
