LOSTANT – A busy Thursday for first responders after a pair of separate accidents resulted in serious injuries in southern LaSalle County. Around 3 PM LaSalle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a head on collision between two vehicles on Route 18 two miles east of I-39. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 22-year-old Brian Northrup reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle and struck a vehicle driven 31-year-old Salem Genseke. Both drivers were flown to a hospital in Peoria. Later that evening, a 32-year-old Streator woman was traveling on North 13th Road and proceeded through the intersection at Route 18 into the ditch. Jennifer Cosby was taken to a hospital in Pontiac but was later life flighted to Peoria. Both accidents remain under investigation and no word on the drivers conditions are available at this time.
