STREATOR – Two dogs involved in a house fire are safe after the Streator Fire Department helped in their rescue on Thursday. According to the Streator Fire Department, they were called to a fully engulfed house fire just before 2 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters say a quick search found two dogs in the home, one of them fleeing by itself, and the other rescued by firefighters. Crews worked to resuscitate the dog, transported it to a local vet hospital, and is now doing well. According to Streator Fire Department one passerby who tried to enter the home was transported to a hospital as well with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no injuries to first responders. The home suffered severe smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but is not suspicious in nature.
