Streator EMS following protocols to avoid spreading illnesses

STREATOR – The Streator Fire Department and other emergency services are following health department protocols to avoid the spread of illness. Streator Fire Chief Gary Bird reported to city council on Thursday that dispatchers are asking callers pertinent questions relating to the coronavirus. For callers that do have symptoms, first responders will be wearing protective gear. Emergency personnel is also disinfecting all equipment after coming from a high risk call. The department urges the public to avoid shaking hands, use cough etiquette and wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds.
