DEKALB – Police are telling people to be on the lookout for out of the ordinary behavior after several burglaries were reported in southern DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s office says several outbuildings were burglarized in the area of Chicago Road between Shabbona and Big Rock. The burglaries have all occurred overnight since mid July, but the burglar may be in the area during the daytime finding new buildings to target.
The Sheriff’s Office says keep your buildings secure, and report anything out of the ordinary in your neighborhood, like vehicles you don’t recognize parked in driveways or field entrances. Also be on the lookout for people offering to do maintenance work you didn’t request, coming to your door asking to use your telephone or needing gas, and strangers asking for someone who doesn’t live at your residence.
