SENECA – The investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a 72-year-old woman in July has led to the arrest of a Seneca man. The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office say that after an investigation involving the Illinois State Police Crime Lab, they took 23-year-old Kevin J. Paulsen of Seneca into custody and charged him with a Class X Felony for Aggravated Criminal Assault. Authorities say that on July 25th, Paulsen allegedly broke into the home of the victim and assaulted her as she slept. Paulsen was taken to the LaSalle County Jail where he is being held on $500,000 bond.
“This crime, as serious as it is, is compounded by the fact that it was committed against a defenseless senior citizen who was asleep in her own home at the time,” said Sheriff Tom Templeton. “The hours put in by the investigative staff as well as the time spent by forensic scientists analyzing the evidence provided was well spent as this evidence is critical in the successful prosecution of this defendant” Templeton said.
