OGLESBY – A K9 veteran of the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team has passed away. The 13-year-old cocker spaniel named Bailey joined the force in 2010 and had a great career with the department before her retirement this past summer. K9 Bailey was deployed over 7,000 times resulting in the seizure of over 3,300 lbs of cannabis, over 56 lbs of cocaine, 23 lbs of heroin/fentanyl, 123 lbs of methamphetamine equaling a total narcotic street value of over $14,000,000. K9 Bailey also assisted in the seizures of over $14,500,000 in illicit currency. TRI-Dent announced she passed away in her sleep on Tuesday.
“K9 Bailey not only provided an outstanding service in her 11 year career to the Trident Team and the public we serve in LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties, but also to the entire law enforcement community, as well as a great companion to her handler and his family; she will be greatly missed.” said Commander Josh Boedigheimer
