OTTAWA – In the past few weeks Lasalle County has seen plenty of rain and with some areas that have experienced flooding, more damage will be seen for crops.

According to President of the Lasalle County Farm Bureau, David Isermann, rainfall has delayed processes like spraying crops, and hay-making. However, corn is still ahead of season.

“Over all things look pretty good we still have a long ways to go,” said Isermann. “The corn was planted a touch late, but because of all the warm weather and good growing conditions with rainfall, its made up that lost time.”

In a recent Illinois Crop Report, Corn condition was rated at one percent very poor, three percent poor, 15 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 29 percent excellent.

Soybeans emerged was at 93 percent. Soybeans blooming reached three percent, compared with one percent last year. Soybean condition was rated at one percent very poor, three percent poor, 19 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 23 percent excellent.
