OTTAWA – Widespread power outages have significantly lessened from this morning, according to electric utilities.
As of 4 p.m. Ameren is reporting over 900 without power in LaSalle County compared to nearly 2,000, and Bureau at less than half than of that this morning. Cornbelt energy says that around 557 customers in LaSalle and 207 in Bureau Counties are without power. Com Ed shows without power in LaSalle 1,874 and 323 Livingston County.
 
LaSalle County Highway Department states that N 17th Rd (Richards Rd) 2 ½ miles east of Route 23 is closed due to a live downed power line.
 
According to Dekalb County Sheriff’s they responded to six calls for downed power lines. They also say Perry Road east of Hinkley Road is closed due to wires across the roadway. Authorities say ComEd is sending a crew to the area to fix the problem. Leland Road between Suydam and Sandersons Roads are down due to wires with unknown repair times. 
All drivers are still urged to practice safe winter driving habits, allow more time to travel and make sure you have a charged cellphone, blanket and plenty of fuel in your car if you must travel.
