Pink Heals Fire Truck Brings Hope; Inspiration on Saturday Visit

Pink Heals and Mendota First Responders visit Tammy Sterling and family Saturday – Photo Studstill Media

MENDOTA- Pink Heals made house calls to Mendota Saturday afternoon visiting two residents who are battling cancer. The visit from Leslie, the pink fire engine from the Sauk Valley Chapter visited Ashlee Watson and Tammy Sterling, both Mendota residents fighting for their lives.
Arranged in part by the Mendota Fire Department, the visit came together with short notice in an effort to make it a surprise.
Brian Tribley of Pink Heals said it is a powerful and positive impact to someone to get a visit from them. “They embrace that and they get emotional,  firefighters and police officers, too will get emotional when they see us stop and see someone”
Tammy Sterling was smiling and overwhelmed as the pink fire truck arrived with sirens and lights, along with a Mendota ambulance and police car.
Both Watson and Sterling took their turn to sign the pink firetruck, already adorned with hundreds of signatures. Anyone wishing to arrange a visit from the Pink Heals organization for someone battling cancer is asked to contact them either through their website, www.pinkhealssaukvalley.com or at their Facebook page.
