STREATOR – Pets were rescued Saturday after a house fire in Streator significantly damaged a home.  According to the Streator Fire Department they were called around 10 AM to a home in the 900 block of Maple Street for a home that had heavy fire towards the rear of the structure.  All residents had escaped but they were notified that two dogs and a cat were still in the home.  Rescue personnel were able to locate and remove the pets after about 10 minutes of searching, where they were given oxygen by Streator Animal Control and the Streator Fire Department.  One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.  The cause of the fire was not determined, but authorities said they don’t believe it is suspicious in nature.
